Police recover stolen doughnuts [View all]

The old joke about police and doughnuts took a new twist in Logan, Utah, on Wednesday when officers arrested a man after he reportedly interfered in an early morning pastry delivery.

Joshua Islas-Rodriguez of Logan, 23, was booked into the Cache County Jail, suspected of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, theft and causing an injury while driving under the influence.

Logan City Police Chief Gary Jensen said that in the events leading up to the incident, a delivery driver for the Shaffer House Bakery stopped at the 7-Eleven on 400 North and Main just after 5 a.m. and left the nondescript gray delivery vehicle running while he ran inside with his daily delivery of sugary goodness.

The driver was reportedly standing at the counter when he looked out the window just as someone else drove the truck away.
