Ohio Secretary of State announces AI tool for election workers [View all]

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced the deployment of an artificial intelligence for election workers in all 88 counties, according to a press release from Nov. 13.

The AI tool is called 'Elections Virtual Assistant,' abbreviated as 'Eva.' In response to prompt-based questions by the user, the program draws from election handbooks and delivers a concise answer.

"She's definitely a data nerd and a bit on the wonky side, but I'm not sure I've met someone who can answer a common question about election administration as quickly and effectively as Eva," LaRose said.

Eva only draws from government-issued sources instead of the internet to ensure the accuracy of its answers.
