The British were actually fairly even handed as they sacked our Capitol. They were under strict orders and custom to not attack civilians and they only attacked the Federal Government and our troop.

Jan 6 is the only time a large group ever ransacked the capitol. I am aware there were one or more violent incidents before, but not huge hoards trying to subvert the Electoral Certification process.
