Strong winds rip roof off of Shelby High School [View all]

Shelby Public School District will make a decision regarding Wednesday's attendance for students at the wind-damaged junior high / high school building later in the day on Tuesday, May 7, according to a press release sent out by Superintendent Elliott Crump.

After investigating the damage done by the strong winds on Tuesday, it was determined that a portion of the school's waterproofing system was detached, but that all structural aspects of the roof are currently believed to be intact.

A contractor is coming to Shelby on Wednesday. The professional plans to make the necessary repairs to the waterproofing system as soon as the rain subsides.
