30-Tons of Trash Was Removed From the Snow Pile Still Sitting in Southie

June has come and almost gone, weather has crept into the 80-degree range with sometimes unforgiving humidity and Fourth of July plans are increasingly the topic of conversation for people around town. All the while, snow continues to sit stubbornly in the South Boston snow farm and could for more weeks on end.

On Wednesday afternoon Mayor Marty Walsh tweeted the latest photo of the slowly, but steadily, diminishing snow pile located at the Southie Waterfront snow farm on Tide Street.

The mayor noted in his 140-character or less message that the pile could last into July, the first day of which is exactly six days away, and perhaps most importantly that 30.16-tons of trash was removed from the pile as well.

Remember, that pile once towered at 15- to 20-feet tall.
