Augusta mayoral candidate Dr. Lori Myles files election lawsuit [View all]

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Augusta mayoral candidate Dr. Lori Myles filed a civil lawsuit Richmond County Superior Court suing Augusta commissioners, as well as state and local voting officials in Richmond County, following the results of the May 19th mayoral election.

Her lawsuit against state and local officials alleges that those involved in the May 19th mayoral election destroyed absentee ballots and eliminated them from the overall vote count and “have taken the Voting information of Augusta’s Citizens only to further entrap, desecrate, and destroy the evidence of Accurate Voting Results.”

The lawsuit accuse state and local officials of “intentional stealing of votes, and falsifying information.”

The certified results of the May 19th election had Augusta voters giving mayoral incumbent Garnett Johnson 16,321 votes, roughly 42.97% of the vote, with Chief Deputy Tax Commissioner Steven Kendrick garnering roughly 35.50% of the vote with 13,542 votes. Veteran Eric Gaines, who has since endorsed Steven Kendrick, was in third with 14.27% of voters and 5,443 votes.
