Capitol Christmas tree travels down Mt. Rose Highway

The holiday season is officially on its way—courtesy of a 53-foot red fir named Silver Belle, which began its journey to the U.S. Capitol Building Sunday morning.

Harvested from the Carson Ranger District in Nevada, Silver Belle made a grand exit from Reno, winding its way down the scenic Mt. Rose Highway early Sunday morning. But this isn’t just any tree—it’s the Capitol Christmas tree, destined to stand proudly on the West Lawn in Washington, D.C., bringing a slice of the Silver State to the nation’s capital.
