Early voting picks up ahead of Election Day as Sonoma, Napa voters weigh in on Prop. 50 [View all]

Nearly 40% of registered voters in Sonoma County and 34% in Napa County had returned ballots ahead of the final weekend in the special statewide Nov. 4 election geared to redrawing California’s congressional maps.

John Tuteur, Napa County’s registrar of voters, said he expects to see additional mail ballots land at his office in the coming days, as well as more people turning out to vote in person during expanded hours at the county’s vote centers.

People have been voting later this election cycle, which he said is surprising since there’s just one issue on the state ballot. He expected modest turnout.

“I think I’m going to be pleasantly surprised,” he said.
