Stop private equity and REITs from buying up rental property. Limit secondary and/or vacation home ownership. End foreign investment. Replace and rebuild blight through eminent domain acquisition. Stuff like that.

I'm not saying to end mandates. But one size does not fit all communities. When it comes at the price of public parks, open space, wildlife corridors and farmland, communities need a little leeway with which to navigate. Housing densities, existing and on the drawing boards, have insurance companies pulling out of the state. We all know water is scarce. Energy, transportation, public safety, etc. -- stretched to the limit.

There is a limit to the number of people California can house.
