In reply to the discussion: Well, I just found out what I have: a common lung cancer, Adenocarcinoma. [View all]highplainsdem
(58,491 posts)A friend and business assiciate of mine who was a chainsmoker got lung cancer decades ago, in his thirties - the scare did make him stop smoking finally - and he recovered very quickly after surgery with no recurrence. I have a number of family members and friends who've beaten various types of cancer (the only exception being a neighbor who had the tragic misfortune to have doctors in different states who misdiagnosed early signs of pancreatic cancer for years, with her moving a few times during that period probably having made it less likely they'd take her symptoms seriously).
You'll be getting good care, and you have lots of support. Please take as good care of yourself as possible, as well. Pamper yourself. Treat yourself to everything that gives you joy, because that positivity should help you heal faster.
