Our boat captain made a salmon stew with carrots and potatoes and celery. It was delicious on the boat. All the salmon boats were limited to 32 feet long and the net sizes were limited, and we had 12-24 hr sometimes longer periods to fish depending on how many had escaped up the river. It’s a way of life. The picture of the boats they are sitting on the mud in the river at low tide. Waiting for the water to come back so they can go out and fish. Sometimes there were 30 foot differences in the tide.
