I suppose that was the original question in my mind. I know that phone cameras have been getting better, but I wasn’t clear on just how good they are or what the requirements are for decent enough shots of the night sky (going purely by cursory visual scans). There has to be a professional definition of how astrophotography is judged quality wise whether it is on the amateur end of the spectrum or the expert end.



I had been under the impression over the years that you have actual photography gear like most of the other posters in this forum, but when you didn’t mention it I wondered if this was taken with the IPhone or Google Pixel or the Samsung model (mentioning em all as homage to Lina Khan -that is being about as anti-monopoly as one can be right😸? As far as I know there are no small phone makers).
