(33,368 posts)95. Margaret Kerry, 97 (Model for the Original Tinker Bell)

Margaret Kerry has died at the age of 97. Kerry was the model for the original Tinker Bell in 1953's Peter Pan. She also pantomimed the role. Other credits from her long career included two episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, three installments of The Little Rascals and her work as a radio host.
The Walt Disney Archives shared the news of her passing on Instagram. Alongside photos of Kerry as Tinker Bell, they wrote in part, "Through her memorable performancesand her enduring connection and dedication to Disney fans over the yearsMargaret has helped illuminate the magic of these timeless characters, inspiring generations who believe in the power of faith, trust, and 'just a little bit of pixie dust.' "
Tinker Bell's Gift Shop, Kerry's official website, also released a statement about her passing and shared that she died on June 11.
Kerry was born Peggy Lynch in Springfield, Ill., in 1929. She was adopted at 3 years old by a couple who were old enough to be her grandparents and moved to Los Angeles. Her first role was as a fairy in the 1935 film A Midsummer Night's Dream, and she appeared in three Our Gang shorts, also known as The Little Rascals.
