They wrote a book together, I think it was "Letters". I met her just as she was beginning to work on it. I met her through her husband, Johnny Hale, a musician turned movie business guy. They were both avid fly fishermen in the Yellowstone country, friends to many famous folks who enjoyed the same. Joan ran a bed & breakfast for some time up in Livingston, MT.

She was an intellect, very interesting and thoughtful. I was astounded by some of the antiques from China that she had around the house. Sad to see her go.
