Car question: 2018 Honda CRV [View all]

As I was driving to my tax-filing appointment I noticed the a/c was not putting out cold air. I just learned from my mechanic that it needs a new a/c compressor, $1900. This amount happens to be almost the exact amount of my tax refund.

My question: How did my car know?
