If you don't want to do that, clip the mail to your box, perhaps with a note, for your carrier to pick up the nest time around. Or, you can drop it in a mailbox and let it run through the system again.

The Postal Service is jacking around service by forcing carriers to work in other towns to fill vacancies (instead of hiring). Your carrier may be setting foot in your town for the first time. Gone are the days of having a regular carrier who delivers the same route every day and knows all the people and addresses. the management position is that all employees are interchangeable and can be slotted into any position. That is a ridiculous proposition and anyone who has ever worked for a living knows it.
