... ignores the internationally recognized limit of 12 nautical miles offshore for a nation's territorial waters. The Strait is roughly 30 miles wide at its narrowest point, so their claim to the entire strait is more than a little bit greedy. Their assumption of sovereignty would also run afoul of Oman's territorial waters, as well as those of the United Arab Emirates. They might want to walk that back a parsec or two if they want to maintain the support of their neighbors.
