4. These "Med Beds" sound like something from sci fi

Because the concept of “med beds” comes from sci-fi.

In Larry Niven’s Known Space series (which includes Ringworld) there are “autodocs” that are incredibly sophisticated and capable handling almost anything that you can think of from a medical standpoint, including transplants, limb replacements, burn therapy etc.

The concept has been out there for quite a while, and I don’t think that the auto doc is unique to Larry Niven‘s work.

But the problem is is that they don’t exist. At least not today.
