...said, no! We want brashness, stupidity, cruelty, sexism, and racism. If empathy and bold policies were what America wanted then the ACA would be a successful single-payer (or similar) healthcare system providing world-class healthcare to Americans.

The notion that Americans want empathy and bold policies seems laughable in the wake of the last election where America chose the least empathetic and most policy-free person and party possible.

No, what America wants is to live in several contradictions at once: a good economy for everyone but low prices; a strong military and Social Security system but no government debt; the freedom to do as they will but suffer no consequences for their actions; the right to bear arms but no school shootings; for all pedophiles to be locked up except the one they put in the White House.

Meanwhile, billionaires have used their immense wealth to make sure that wedge issues and single-issue voters keep their tax cuts flowing despite their already low tax rates and access to wealth creation devices that ordinary people do not have--including buying up all the properties that people can hardly afford to rent these days.

Democrats have to learn to talk about pain, but I'm not convinced anymore that it is in the way Chauncey thinks they should...unfortunately.
