18. Threat to the auto industry

Understand, that although this is great for everyone, it is bad for the whole auto industry as it sets the bar high for all who cannot come up with the same or similar technology. BYD could easily become the vehicle of choice around the world, being the most efficient and probably the cheapest. How would everyone in the industry catch up? Blocking their distribution worldwide is the only way, and that would never happen, as well as being totally unfair to the Chinese. The Fords, GMs, Stellantis' of the world would have to agree to license BYD's technology, or rebadge some of their cars as products of the BIG THREE. All very bad for the people employed by the auto industry worldwide.

Charging 1000 Kwh maybe.. One hell of a cable.. that would be 600 amps at 600vdc. LiberalArkie Mar 19 #10
No, the correct unit is watts (or kilowatts, etc.) sl8 Mar 19 #11
I agree, but I had to make an assumption they meant 1000 Kwh instead of 1000 KW or 1 megawatt. LiberalArkie Mar 19 #12
I'm not following. sl8 Mar 19 #13
I am probably wrong as I have forgotten too much being 77 LiberalArkie Mar 19 #14
Sure, 1,000 kilowatts equals 1 megawatt equals 1,000,000 watts sl8 Mar 19 #15
That is what made me think Kwh instead of kw as the amount energy that the new stuff was being charged at made more LiberalArkie Mar 19 #16
