Raskin says he hopes for transparent investigation into WHCA dinner shooting [View all]

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) on Sunday expressed hope that a transparent investigation into the shooting at Saturday’s White House Correspondents Association dinner will be conducted.

“I hope that this investigation is done with complete openness and transparency and integrity,” Raskin, who was attending the event, told host Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Raskin also said that, despite his issues with their leadership, he will give acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel the “benefit of the doubt” with respect to the investigation into Saturday’s incident.

That investigation has already begun, as Blanche told Bash earlier Sunday that investigators have spoken to those who knew the suspect and are going through evidence that they collected. The suspect, though, is not “cooperating” with investigators, according to the acting attorney general.
