there were reports that NORAD was running a "simulation program" at the time of 9/11 and were useless for many hours.
There were also reports that it took some time to scramble the fighter jets, and that many weren't even armed and had planned to fly their planes into the airliners if necessary. There are recordings out there, that I have listened to, of Air Traffic Control not knowing where the planes were because the Hijackers had turned off the transponders.....I would think that Norad's incredible radar(s)would have been a great help if they had been up and running. The recording showed that the fighter jets that did get up, were able to be given no information of where the planes were at that time, speed, and direction only where they had been before the Transponders were turned off.
With the statement of the 1997 PNAC group, and Louis Freh? ignoring all the Frightening reports from his FBI down in Phoenix about the mid easterners in commercial aircraft flight schools, I, for one, truly believe that the opportunity for 9/11 was created by Cheney/Rumsfeld Incorporated.......per their statement in the PNAC Manifesto.....

Things have changed, at least in my area of the world. An air base on the border of Denver has two fully armed fighters that are able to be LAUNCHED, in five minutes. They come over Denver at a low altitude, with their after burners on, rattling our windows every week or two.....We can hear their roar, and I go outside to watch them come over.....
I talked to an ATC, and he said they are supposed to notify Denver ATC and use certain pathways, but they often don't, and just avoid all other aircraft shown on their radar on their way out......
