Yesterday

was beneath it. The reason being any potential adversary would likely target the residence or the west wing where the president was more likely to be found.

My guess would be that bunker is being expanded or hardened more to withstand more advanced weaponry or both.

Thanks to Trump, now potential adversaries won't have to guess where it is. They can probably take satellite pics of the kind of construction vehicles and materials that are being brought in, too.
