My greatest hope was the President Biden would spend significant energy during his term to pushing for laws that would formalize traditional limitations and expectations for the President and set real boundaries on executive power by statute.

Trump showed how a president with evil intentions could obfuscate his illegal actions and ignore precedent and tradition while sticking to the "letter of the law".

I was disappointed that Biden didn't seem to try, and now we are paying for it.

Not that the Old Man is bother by breaking the law so it might not have done much but give the courts more grist for the mill.
