Donny will prove himself a liar. He will NOT pull out of Minneapolis. He won't turn tail. It would shred his brand with MAGA fascists. Instead, MAGA fascists know that their fascist leader is setting the stage for another offensive. He can devise a crisis (contrived) and bring on the Insurrection Act. It can all be done within 2 days.

Do not think that this is impossible.
