If you are wondering why they have a tinge of panic in their utterings, the reason is simple.

This act of government instigated and sanctioned ICE murder oversteps the mark, it breaks the frozen in fear bunny-in-the-headlights response to everything Trump does bad by the public, and it will now be active resistance rather than placid compliance.

And they know it.
