Those companies that import anything from raw materials to finished products from abroad cannot possibly afford to absorb all of the tariff costs, and so they have to raise their prices. And people who can ill afford it, are forced to pay more for what they need to survive.
Trump is the worst thing that has happened to this country since the Civil War. And the billionaires that can afford to do some good with their wealth, but are too fucking selfish to even entertain the notion, are a close second. So fuck 'em all.
I suspect that Trump knows perfectly well what tariffs are doing to the country, he just doesn't give a shit. Intelligent voters didn't vote for him in 2024, so he's hell bent on punishing the entire nation for not saying, with tears in their eyes, "Please, sir! May we kiss your fat, pimply ass?" That his vindictive malice dovetails nicely with Putin's psychotic desire to destroy America from within is just icing on the cake, as well as insurance from defenestration.
