The Friends of the Bureau of Labor Statistics . . . The group, an independent network of users of the agency's data, is co-chaired by former BLS commissioners Erica Groshen and Bill Beach, as well as Paul Schroeder, executive director of the Council of Professional Associations on Federal Statistics.

. . . The Friends of the BLS said the agency had lost almost 25% of its staff since February and one third of its leadership positions were vacant, factors that could lead to a slower recovery relative to the 2013 shutdown.

That's an interesting concise summary of the economy. Not very comforting.
