Former President Joe Biden enjoyed a hero's welcome in Omaha as a crowd of Nebraska Democrats chanted, "Thank you, Joe," after Biden delivered a message of resilience.
Biden was the keynote speaker at the annual Ben Nelson Gala at the Omaha Hilton and said the country is in a crisis, but America always emerges stronger.
He quoted the 19th-century French philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville, saying, "The greatness of America lies not in being more enlightened than any other nation, but rather in her ability to repair her faults." He added, "That's what we have to do, repair our faults."
Biden laid out myriad concerns with President Donald Trump's administration, ranging from sending $40 billion to Argentina to taking a literal "wrecking ball" to the White House. Biden, who recently battled skin and prostate cancers, downplayed his own health challenges while criticizing Trump for limiting access to health care.
