2. I wonder if these two thugs were really DHS agents

Only two of them, no badges to warn the public to stand clear, lots of attention paid to keeping their masks on, no backup or attempts to call for it, and no documentation to legitimize their attempted abduction?

IF those were full time federal employees, they didn’t act like they were making any serious attempt at proving it as justification for their actions. The way they went about their “work” looked more to me like some private mercenaries looking to cash in on some unnamed sum promised them for every “suspicious” brownskin they can dump off at their pre-arranged location.

I think the reason they decided to flee was that the increasingly numerous crowd was reaching a size where they might feel emboldened enough to overpower the two thugs, unmask them, find no paper justification for their action, and call the cops to arrest them for assault and attempted kidnapping. I’m pretty sure they have strict instructions to never reveal who they are, who sent them, what their instructions were, and, especially, from whom they received them.
