Poland would have to draw am unequivocal red line: no Russian aircraft (manned or no) or missiles can cross into its skies without facing direct retaliation. This could harden deterrence along NATO’s eastern flank. It could also pressure hesitant NATO members to step up support.

On the other hand, If NATO shifts resources to preparing for direct war with Russia, Ukraine might paradoxically receive less immediate support (though my left knee's jerk tells me it could potentially forcing Russia to divert resources away from the Ukrainian front to bolster air defenses further east, so who know? Not me!)
