...operation: Putin apparently got a pulchritudinous redhead spy (Maria Butina) to infiltrate the entire right wing of American politics, including the NRA and a significant faction of the Republican party. It was like something out of a James Bond movie. Somehow, as CEO of Overstock (at the time), Byrne ended up being one of Butina's many hookups; I guess they both traveled in some of the same circles. It was rather creepy, as he's about twice her age.
