13. Interesting piece on conspiracies

I was using the two examples given to assess my conspiracy proneness:
1) the Princess Diana was killed one I dismiss outright as garbage only saying probably since technically you can’t outright rule anything out. But based on my knowledge of reality I would put the odds of their being any credence to that as very low.
2) the 9/11 example is trickier. Mihop again I would outright rule out aside from that technically you can’t rule anything out without absolute proof that it didn’t happen (the reason “the does God exist” argument goes on and on).
With Lihop, the way these GOP guys work, you don’t need a conspiratorial worldview to think that ..Lihoi (let it happen out of incompetence) and maybe if there were a 100 key officials who could have stopped it, my reading of these systems is that there were maybe 15 out of the 100 who didn’t care enough.
That’s what worries me these days as I feel that as long as their rears are safe and there is no accountability this present day reality is filled with people who need strict oversight they are not getting. While those of us with no power and no control are pounded away over safety.

That was Larry Ellison’s worldview.
I am not conspiratorial at all, but distrust of the same people who wanted climate change lied about is not anything like anti-vaccine paranoia. Anyway vaccines aren’t enough. They need to shut down wet markets and factory farms to prevent future pandemics instead of scrambling for vaccines at the last minute while never giving a shit about safety when there is time.

I dislike and distrust the elite (I don’t mean the truly elite who are rarely powerful like say my oncologist. I would say he is elite intellectually but he is just a rando doctor)-but the types of people who ascend to elite status in a corrupt society tend to be mediocre dimwits like Zitron’s business idiots.

I never really thought of Dr Fauci etc as “elites” except talent wise. That’s never scary. It’s untalented and mercenary “elites” I have a problem with. They often come off as really stupid people. So between not being that well intentioned and daft to boot ..
