Depardieu starred in a movie called "Welcome to New York" in 2014, where he plays a French diplomat (or something like that) who is accused of raping a maid at his hotel and is arrested. The rape scene is quite direct. The movie was based on a true story of a French government official, last name Strauss-Kahn, who was alleged to have done the same thing a few years prior.

I remember the news story, because I think Strauss-Kahn returned to France while the investigation was playing out as the situation became complex due to France's extradition laws, diplomatic immunity, etc.
