It’s like the lives of Palestines are just chess pieces in a game. People like Trump who treat someone else’s life like this would do the same to you, whoever you are.

Thats the reality about the elites, defence contracting, war or other profiteering.

Nathan Robinson had an excellent piece called “Living in the Omelas”. He attacks all politicians so I don’t post his stuff here.
But I have never heard of that story and it disgusted me as much as the three trolley problem etc. It’s such a warped way of thinking.

It shows the stupidity of cornucopianism. In a less unequal world there is no need for any basements and Pizzagate is mindless conspiracy and foetuses are foetuses. The real children dying overtly are not in any basement-they are in Gaza.

But I didn’t need this war. I was unable to block out the moral horror that factory farming is from the time I found out about it. I cannot participate in something that vile. There are always decent food options. It’s why I am glad to support the Humane League every month.

I would not be able to live in the Omelas. I wouldn’t be able to not think of the child in the basement. As it is i block out a lot to enjoy such pleasures as my life affords by trying to find realistically worthwhile efforts. Chronic stress won’t help anyone who is trying to do the right thing.
