5. Indeed... each of these stories is more depressing than the last

The stories are essentially all the same. A couple democratic leaders say “they better not push that button… because we’ll be forced to fight back!”… or (as with Beto) we should punch first and harder… but it all appears to be a charade to convince the base that at least someone is fighting.

The problem appears to be a lack of ammunition. The blue states are either structurally constrained from making changes (because Democrats tend to oppose gerrymandering and passed laws to restrict it), or they are already gerrymandered in our favor and there isn’t much juice left to squeeze… or both.
