8. Real reason is that retail and service industry before the virus offered so little pay

before the virus that people that worked in those industries were forced to work multiple part time jobs just to pay the basic everyday bills and that was before luxuries like health insurance which many could not even afford.
Then once the virus hit many retail and service businesses fired all those workers so those people had to scramble to find new jobs which many of them did with things like Uber as well as the various grocery delivery services which often pay better than their old multiple part time jobs did.
Now, those same businesses that fired them want them back since they have reopened but they want to still want to play the same old game of offering part time only with low wages and no health insurance so food service based companies like McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts and retailers like Publix and Walmart are struggling to fill spots and they will continue to struggle.
After all why quit a job you might be earning 20 bucks an hour or more to go back to working part time for an employer that has a history of screwing you over by cutting your hours to prevent you from qualifying for full time and or as a means to prevent you from qualifying for health insurance?
