PLEASE tell me Trump didn't fill the Reflecting Pool with city water! [View all]

DC Water, the city water utility for the District of Columbia, has a really huge problem: the water system in that city has A LOT of lead pipes in it. They've replaced all the mains with lead-free pipe, but there are an estimated 42,000 lead branch pipes in daily service. The city estimates the last one will be replaced in 2037. To help mitigate the problem until they can change them all, they put a chemical in the water that creates a thin layer of protection.

The chemical is called Orthophosphate. It does the job very well. The layer washes away if it isn't replenished, so orthophosphate is always in DC's water to create a self-healing coating.

Orthophosphate is also algae fertilizer.

Part of the renovation President Obama did to the Reflecting Pool involved pulling untreated water out of the Potomac Tidal Basin to fill the Pool. Since Trump is actively trying to erase everything Democratic Presidents ever did, it wouldn't be out of character if he put the Pool back on city water.
