In reply to the discussion: So what's so bad about using AI any way? [View all]hamsterjill
(17,951 posts)68. We still need to know how to think.
I'm old and I recognize and stipulate to my reluctance to change. But when my son-in-law had to put my address into his driving app to be able to find my house, I started to worry.
Driving apps are wonderful as far as telling you which way to go for the most efficient route. But when someone loses the ability to know north, south, east and west - there is going to come a day when they forget their phone, or the internet isn't working, or SOMETHING (which none of the younger people in my life want to admit) that keeps them from knowing where to go.
I think the same applies to AI in general. We still need to be able to think and not rely on it always.
