A Massachusetts judge has released a man charged with attempted murder stemming from an altercation at a local beach, where he's accused of trying to drown a 21-year-old who was jet skiing with a group of friends.
Steven Dana, 70, of Hopkinton, has been ordered to stay away from and have no contact with the alleged victim or witnesses of the confrontation that erupted in chaos at Sandy Beach at Hopkinton's Lake Maspenock on Wednesday.
Framingham District Court Judge Michael Callahan, who released Dana on $7,500 bail, has also ordered the defendant to stay away from the beach and not to possess any firearms or dangerous weapons.
The incident has gone viral on social media, with a video showing Dana and a group of 20-something-year-olds shouting at each other before the defendant is seen slapping the 21-year-old man's face and then "orcefully holding (him) under the water," according to police.
