(4,630 posts)Paxton is no worse than Cornyn. Hes just more open about his lack of morality. Cornyn is simply too cowardly to be as openly corrupt as Paxton. He is certainly no better. A lot of folks think Paxton will be easier to defeat than Cornyn. I think that is a mistake if it encourages complacency . We will have to work our asses off to register and get our voters to the polls. But I have faith there are real changes happening in Texas.
We have a new state chair who is really shaking up the old party to groans and disgruntlement of many old timers in the party. But things are really changing with his leadership. For the first time in 30 years we filled all the races on the primary ballot. I met this guy at a fundraiser the other day. His name is Kendall Scudder. Hes 36 years old from Bowie, TX, (formerly a sunset town) raised by two moms and he is one of those guys you dont tell him something cant be done. Before you can get the words out of your mouth, hell show you HOW its done. I am more hopeful than Ive ever been, but I understand the challenge before us. There are a lot of good people in Texasdont give up on us. We need your support more than ever before, but I truly believe we are either going to do this are we are going to give the Republicans a hard assed run for the money that will put Texas on the map as a battleground state. Im worried about Republican cheating, but that doesnt matter. We have to work to get done.
In my county, we tripled the Democratic votes in the primary compared to the last midterm primary. Thats real data, not wishful thinking. The Republicans were shocked. I can imagine how they will feel in November.
