I grew up in a small, very conservative, very religious-oriented town. Very racist, sexist and classist. You knew from birth what your status was and you didn't dare try to move to another class.

Or DID you??? Hmmm....

I am very different from all of the other classmates that I had growing up. Most are now die hard MAGA koolaid-drinkin'- Trump fans. I was always different in some respects.

There are a few classmates who are not as die-hard conservative. Even a few who are probably Independents. But the vast majority are MAGA and don't want anything to do with anyone who isn't. Fine by me.

I knew I wasn't like them early on, and actually embraced and relished that. I got outta there as fast as I could and only return for family funerals when I absolutely have to.

So this kind of supports your post in that, even WITH the same conditioning, SOME people come out differently - dare I say, better, smarter, more well-informed, more curious???? Whatever the difference, I am grateful for it.
