Why is Colbert off the air?

Not because of ratings.
Not because of lack of critical accolades.

But because, to borrow from Shakespeare, someone has more hair than wit does not like to be ridiculed.

And he found an enabler in the Ellisons.

ANTIPHOLUS OF SYRACUSE
There’s many a
man hath more hair than wit
--Shakespeare, Comedy of Errors 2.2.85-86

BEATRICE
a very dull fool;
only his gift is in devising impossible slanders. None but
libertines delight in him, and the commendation is not
in his wit, but in his villainy.
--Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing 2.1.125-128
