Trump has one tactic that defuses the masses (not entirely, obviously, but does disperse the anger on any one issue) And that is chaos. He creates SO DAMNED MANY horrific issues each day to make us angry that the focus on any one is (mostly) lost. Thus the value of the "NO KINGS" protests which unite on ONE CONCEPT while simultaneously allowing for those angry about so many righteous issues to come together.

But he would be OUT of office if it were only 5 or 10 or 20 issues that would result in displacement/impeachment of any other pResident. Instead it is 5 or 10 or 20 (or more) EACH DAY. No one can keep up with that while working and living their own lives.

It is a reptilian reflexive survival tactic- with mob roots- reinforced by his own prior lawyer/consigliere, Roy Cohn, but likewise deeply embedded by his own pathos and malignant narcissism. Always must be the center of attention. How best to gain that beyond creating a new chaotic crisis every day? every hour? Attacking everyone and everything so that even among his own circle, NO ONE can "get comfortable" and thus their inner panic keeps all in line.

Chaos. The ultimate tactic.
