2. I'm beginning to wonder if the problem isn't with the media owners, but more the reporters.

This toon made me think about why the cameras, microphones, notepads, attention is usually aimed at the sensational and jarring, versus the normal and quotidian.

Sure, the media bosses want eyeballs and clicks and sales. And I'm sure there's a mantra about bleeding and leading.

But I wonder if a lot of reporters in the field want to have eye-catching reportage, get their bylines on page 1, get invited on those important cable channels. Almost a hunger for attention - sometimes taking them into dangerous war zones.
