Isn’t it Congress-representatives elected by the people who will be asked to provide papers-the ones who should be able to demand this via legislation rather than a bunch of appointees?

I confess to skimming, not studying, the linked article, but nothing jumped out at me about compliance with this or that law. WHO wants this? Bessent? Trump? The Heritage Foundation? I want a Congress that will shut this s**t down, thank very much.
