(12,370 posts)Did Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, storm out of an emergency meeting after President Donald Trump said he wanted to threaten Iran with nuclear weapons? No, that's not true: There are no credible or verified reports indicating that such an incident ever occurred. While news coverage has documented internal discussions and differing views within the administration over potential military action against Iran, none describe Caine storming out of a meeting or reacting in that manner to a request from the president.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here) by the @JaokooMoses account on X on April 19, 2026. It read:
CONFIRMED: The US joint Chiefs of staff Air Force Gen. Dan Caine stormed out of an emergency meeting with Trump. Insiders indicate that Trump wanted to invoke the nuclear codes as a deterrence against Iran but Caine refused and invoked the U.S. Uniform Code of Military Justice.
