I raised three daughters and never considered corporal punishment. My philosophy was to instill respect in my kids through dialogue and by example. All three went out of their way to avoid ‘the look’ from Dad. It was and still is their greatest fear to disappoint their old man….and this welded a tight bond between all of us. In my opinion, if you have to hit your children, you’ve not put in enough time raising them or the abuser has no anger control which leads to further issues as the kids mature.

Society has enough problems without incorporating more violence….especially on children whose positive emotional development should be the parent’s primary responsibility.
