(627 posts)46. Why flip flop when your base and, to a lesser extent, the media will let you just get away with contradictory claims?
Once you accept a contradiction, its hard to refute its constituent statements both in logic and practice. We voters generally disfavor flip floppers as being insincere opportunists, but what do we say when someone holds opposite views concurrently? One would hope that our response as a voting population would be even more severe, but alas we unsuccessfully are relegated to arguing against both propositions simultaneously. I think it is rather successful at muddling our minds natural and learned logical intuition.
