Iran fired two ballistic missiles at Diego Garcia, a joint US-UK military base on a remote island in the Indian ocean.

Neither of the missiles hit the base, with one failing in flight. A US warship fired a SM-3 interceptor at the other, but it could not be determined whether an interception was made.

Diego Garcia is located roughly 4,000 kilometers from Iran, indicating that Tehran’s missiles may be capable of reaching farther than has previously been acknowledged.
